My dear church family,
Let the sound of the angelic choir fill your hearts with joy today. A Savior is born to us! Without Christ this world would have remained in the darkness of despair. Jesus came to assure us of His love. He needs us. He called us His sons and daughters. He granted us heavenly citizenship! ( Phil. 3:20).
I invite you to celebrate Christmas in the Spirit of our Lord Jesus. Forgive those that hurt you. Be gracious to the ones who offended you. Love those who disappointed you. Be proactive in showing your loving care towards the unfortunate ones. There are many souls around us who need a hug or a smile. Call your parents, talk to your children.
Galena and I feel blessed to celebrate our first Christmas with the Ooltewah church family. We already fell in love with you. You made us feel welcome and appreciated. We know that we don’t deserve it but it still feels great ;-)! Thank you so much for your generous Christmas gift to our family. Your graciousness humbles us.
Let the good tidings keep sounding in the Ooltewah community through the ministry of our church. I am looking forward to many wonderful outreach programs that we can work on together in 2015. There are people in the Chattanooga area who need to hear about the saving power of Christ. Lets dedicate this New Year to reaching out to as as many of our neighbors as we can.
Happy Sabbath, dear friends!
I trust you had a great week and are ready for the beauty of the Sabbath rest. This week started with a bad cold for me. I was totally mad at my virus that kept me from attending the OAKS Christmas social. I was looking forward to that event for several week, but instead I had to sit on a chair by the window of the parsonage and watch as our church and school parking lot had no room for all the families that came to this special event. 😦 I have heard many exciting reports of this program and I hope next week to share with you some photos taken by the school staff. Thank you for your prayers. I feel totally fine to preach tomorrow morning. “The Promise of Freedom” is the central thought of my message for this Sabbath. Satan does not want you to let go of the bondage to sin. Jesus is saying …… It is time to be set free. Are you ready to be free?
Tomorrow night is our Church Christmas social at 5 PM. I hope many of you will be here to share the joy of Christmas. Bring your favorite snack 🙂
Your prayers are needed for the Conerly family. Frances’ mother Mabel Carter passed away this morning. Mrs. Mabel was an active member of the Ooltewah church. At one time she served as a church elder. The graveside service will take place this Sunday at 3 pm at the Collegedale Memorial Park. The service will be officiated by Pastor Mike Pettengill.
Please, remember in your prayers Jennifer Verdusco (health concerns) and Jacqueline Stoval (a heart bypass or a stent this coming week). Galena, my wife (I was not able to keep my cold virus to myself… 😦 )
Every Sabbath through the month of December we have an additional Christmas offering. Tomorrow is the “Nehemiah Project” Christmas offering. I pray that we donate generously towards this project. Our church building should look better that any other building in Ooltewah as this is the House of the Lord! This is the place where we come into the presence of the Creator of the universe. He deserves our best! With a new roof, new pews, new church signs and new windows we’ll show to the community that our God is our priority! The Nehemiah Project will need up to $200,000. Can WE do it? No! Can God do it through us? YES, no doubts that He can! There is nothing impossible for Him.
Please, remember to visit the church website at http://www.ooltewahchurch.org for more announcements and a current Sabbath bulletin. See you tomorrow morning.
Your friend, Peter
Happy Sabbath, Ooltewah SDA church family!
Those of you who were out of town last week missed a sweet baptism of Katelyn Stark. Katetyn was baptized by Cory Goss, our church elder and one of our Pathfinder Club leaders. Here is a photo of the baptism:
It was great to see Pastor Mike and Becky who visited our second service to officiate a baby dedication. On the photo below you can see Cayden Christopher Porter with his parents Kelsey and Weston and his older brother Blake.
Through the month of December I’ll be sharing with you a new sermon series entitled “THE PROMISE”. Tomorrow, part 1: The Promise of God’s Presence. God, Immanuel, has come not just to put His hand on us, not just to say ’Well done’ and give us a pat on the back and push us forward – but He has come to stay, He has come to dwell, He has come to reside with us!

I invite you to pray for Jennifer Verduzco (health concern), Becka Sharp (health), Jackie Stovall (health). Jeremiah 30:17 For I will restore health to you, and your wounds I will heal, declares the Lord…
The Lord is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and great in faithful love.
The Lord is good to everyone;
His compassion rests on all He has made.
All You have made will thank You, Lord;
the godly will praise You. Psalm 145
