The Spirit of Adoption

MESSAGE
: When you walk through the dark and difficult circumstances of loss and loneliness, and when it seems that nobody’s there to comfort you, your Father cares, because you’re His beloved child. When you have to go through a time of unexpected needs and adverse experiences, your Father is there with you, because you’re His beloved child. When health and strength fail, and you find it very hard to cope with life’s demands, does your Father forsake you? No, because you’re still His beloved child. As His children we all have the privilege of enjoying His presence all the time. Not because we deserve it, but because He’s lavished His love on us, and made us His very own children.

My message tomorrow morning will be drawn from Romans 8:14-17. “For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.”

CHURCH. It was a true blessing to join the Season of Change ministry lunch this Thursday afternoon. The ladies fixed great lunch, but the best part of the program was in shared stories about our mothers. Thank you, Lupina, Carleen, Marleen, Janet and everyone else helping with this ministry.

FROM PASTOR AUBREY.
Youth Vespers is taking place Sabbath at 8pm (after Rick Marshall’s retirement party) in the sanctuary. Please join us for an evening game and worship thought as we close out the Sabbath.

This past Sabbath the youth (and some adults too) went out to Harrison Bay Park and had a great time. We had worship and an activity in the morning for church and lunch afterwards (thank you to all who brought something). Then water fun in God’s creation commenced as many jumped into canoes. Overall it was a wonderful Sabbath, take a look at these pictures to see our group!

PRAYERS: Rosa Lee’s friend Bob Allison is in the operating room having a quadruple bypass surgery. Lots of prayers are needed. Please, encourage Rosa Lee through messages and phone calls. As of right now the surgery is going well. We had a prayer before the surgery where even the doctor joined hands with us. Bob is at Memorial hospital.

Ina Longway was hospitalized yesterday due to pneumonia  concerns. She is at Erlanger. Ina is strong and is in good spirit, but she is asking the church to pray for her soon and complete recovery. She is eager to go home. As I was visiting with her this afternoon she expressed a sincere concern that she may miss church service tomorrow ☺️ That’s a sweet concern for a 91 year young lady from a hospital room. 🙏 Please, pray for Ina.

COOLEGEDALE CAMP MEETING. Marching to Zion is the theme of the Georgia Cumberland Conference camp meeting starting this Wednesday night (June 1). Click here to access complete camp meeting program.

We will NOT have our own church prayer meeting this coming Wednesday night. Please, attend the meeting in Collegedale.

However, we’ll keep our church open next Sabbath (June 4) morning for BOTH services.

Pastor Aubrey will be leading the Young Adults program during the camp meeting. She may not be always available for your calls or messages.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE. Starting next Tuesday Galena and I are taking two weeks of vacation time. As a part of our Light of Hope ministry I’ll be preaching at a Slavic camp meeting for the Eastern Europe region. The meetings will take place in Prague. I am asking for your prayers as we’ll be traveling and sharing the Gospel on the another continent. After the camp meeting we’ll stay in Europe for a few days to reset our bodies and minds for another exciting year at our beloved Ooltewah church.

See you tomorrow morning,

Peter

  1. I wish I could be at the Ooltewah SDA church tomorrow,05/28/2016, but I’m afraid I must “Play hooky” to nurse my terrible case of poison ivy! Take care and be careful on your trip…hurry back to us!

  2. Thank you and Gelena for all you do. Shannon & I have been praying about how to provide Christian education for 2 academy students. So, with our kids, we are following God’s calling and will be leaving Thurs. June 2 to begin travel nursing. We will be going to Rickville, MD, near Silver Springs, for our first 13 week assignment and then hopefully north GA where we can be close to our kiddos since they will both be attending GCA. Our membership will remain at Ooltewah where we will be submitting our thi the and offerings. Please keep us in your prayers as we begin our new adventure.
